Carmen’s opening encouragement:
I was overcome yesterday by the stillness. I was standing on the edge of our lower field. It is verdant and speckled with tiny purple and white flowers which my husband says are all weeds but they are beautiful nonetheless. The wind was not blowing and clouds passed silently through the sky above. Not a creature was moving within my range of vision and the word settled heavy upon me: still.
It was both a word describing the scene before me but it also felt like a command to my heart and mind and spirit.
Still. Be still. Settle down.
Calm your breathing. Be anxious for nothing.
God’s got this.
Psalm 46:10 filled me as if I were hearing and deeply receiving it for the first time: “Be still and know that I am God.”
Be still and know that God is STILL God.
God is still God!
God is still great. And God is still good.
God is still love and God is still on the Throne.
God still has the whole world in His hands and God is still working out His purposes in human history.
And in the midst of all that you will deal with today, God is still.
Be still and know that God is – still – God.
Carmen talks with Drew Griffin about his experience of surviving the coronavirus in Manhattan and then she discusses Better Together book with author Danielle Strickland.
