Conscience protections for right and left? | Free speech or viewpoint discrimination on U.S. college campuses?
Matthew Hawkins and Carmen explore the op ed by Jack Phillips in Newsweek juxtaposing the experience Jack had as a baker who refused to bake a cake and the experience a lesbian cake baker who similarly refused is now having. Jack was eviscerated by the media; the lesbian cake baker is being celebrated. Both refused to bake a cake contrary to their sincerely held beliefs. Why the difference in treatment?
They also discuss the treatment of Muslim detainees in a U.S. ICE facility in Miami. Suffice it to say, we can do better.
In the second half, Carmen talks with Dan DeWitt about a couple of items in the Weekend Worldview Reader including a professor in Iowa who threatened to stifle free speech in class and how to explain talking donkeys and other miracles when people ask.
