Every day is the day after EasterApril 5, 2016
Easter may have been over a week ago, but for Christians every day is the day after Easter. Are we living like it?
Its not every day that you can say “today is the day after Easter.” Or, is it?
Either way, today’s that day.
Today’s the day we start living as Easter people.
The death of Christ upon the cross and the resurrection of Christ from the dead form the epicenter of Christianity. Of these we are witnesses; this we believe; by this gospel we are saved; to this we hold we firm; this we preach; this we pass on as of first importance:
- that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
- that he was buried,
- that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
- that he appeared…
This is the witness we have received; this is the gospel; this is what we preach – and if, as Paul says in the verses that follow, “if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith – we are false witnesses about God – if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile, you are still in your sins and those who have died are totally lost.
