Below the fold: Even the very stones cry outDecember 7, 2016
It’s always fun when science discovers something the Bible has proclaimed all along. The findings are detailed in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and the revelation is that there’s a stash of water deep within the earth.
“Current estimates suggest that the deep Earth may hold as much water as all the oceans on the planet’s surface combined.” That’s a lot of water. That amount of water could entirely cover the land masses of the globe. The article on LiveScience.com admits that this is a “new way of thinking about the deep Earth,” but its a very old way of thinking for those with a Biblical worldview.
Genesis 7:11 and 8:2 describe the flood in the days of Noah as not only being fed by water from heavy rains but from the opening of “the fountains of the great deep. ”
The “fountains of the great deep” have long been described by Biblical scholars as oceanic and possibly subterranean sources of water. If the recent deep Earth discovery is accurate, it would mean both. When Genesis 7:11 says that on the day the flood began, there was a “breaking up” of the fountains, that which was in the Earth returned to the surface.
That would mean three things: undersea earthquakes producing tsunamis, undersea volcanic eruptions and something called liquefaction. You should Google the term liquefaction. You will encounter science’s explanation for how land turns to liquid. Imagine that happening globally and almost simultaneously as the tectonic plates of the earth convulsed at the flood.
The scientists acknowledge that “water is essential to the recycling of minerals through volcanism and plate tectonics, because it provides the lubrication needed for the various rock materials to move past each other….Without water, the planet would come to a geologic standstill.” Again, scientific confirmation of the perfection of Earth’s internal systemic design.
Notably, for the skeptic who says in his heart, “there is no God,” no amount of evidence will ever convince. But for people of faith, it’s always fun when science sees itself as having discovered something the Bible has declared all along.
