Lent day 26 – John 4 – Ready or Not, Jesus is Lord
Where in the Word are you today?
I’m in John chapter 4.
Jesus goes out of his way to keep an appointment with a Samaritan woman at a well only God could have set. And Jesus reveals to this most unlikely of candidates that He is the promised Messiah. The woman runs back into town without her water jug to rouse her neighbors to come and see Jesus. Could he be who he claims to be? We are told that many believed – we’re also told that contrary to Jewish law, Jesus stayed with them for two days. That’s interesting.
Jesus went where the world said he shouldn’t go and talked with a woman the world said he shouldn’t care about and then he stayed two days as people came to see for themselves that this man really is the Savior of the world.
The Jews weren’t ready to receive the Messiah God sent, but others were. What might that say about who is ready to receive the good news of God’s grace in Christ today and where we might have to go in order to share him with them?
