Lent day 6: Why armor up? That you may stand – against…March 4, 2020
Continuing in our conversation about Ephesians 6:10-20, we ask “why we need all this armor.” Paul tells us that we need the whole armor of God “that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.” That’s actually the entire point of the exercise of conscientiously and intentionally armoring up every day in prayer. There is a spiritual battle being waged right now and you are in the cross-hairs of the enemy. He is taking aim at the soft places and it is essential to armor up if you’re going to withstand. The devil is a schemer – he has plans and strategies and totally committed to undo God’s redemptive grace. And there are lots of co-conspirators working with the devil to compromise, challenge and conquer us. They hate the Savior and they hate those who love him and they never take a day off. Neither must we. So armor up that today, on this day, you might stand!
