Lent day 23, John 1, The WordMarch 23, 2020
Where in the Word are you today?
I’m in John, chapter 1.
If you really want to get to know someone you need to know their back story – where they came from, what makes them who they are today. To help us know Jesus, John’s Gospel starts in the beginning – when the Word was with God because the Word was God, Jesus was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made and in him was life and light. Throughout the gospel of John we are going to encounter the dichotomy of life and death, light and darkness, truth and lies. But here at the outset we are assured there is no dichotomy at all between revelation and reason. In fact, they are one, and His name is Jesus. He is the Word who became flesh; He is full of grace and truth and he is the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. To know Jesus is to know truth and life and light; to follow Jesus is not only to believe but really live.
