Mornings w Carmen 3-27-2019 hour 2: Are you recession ready and understanding the Nigerian genocide

Bill English joins Carmen to talk about rising tide of concern that there’s a recession headed our way (Spoiler alert: there always is).  Since 1960 we’ve had 8 recessions. They last 7-10 years, they’re cyclical and the last one ended in 2008. So, doing the math, we’re due.  What can you do to get ready as an individual, a family, a business and a church?

Karen Ellis from RTS-Atlanta, joined Carmen to discuss the plight of Christians facing genocide in Nigeria. Though largely unreported, Christians are being systematically killed by two different groups of bad actors: Boko Haram and the Fulani herdman. While Boko Haram are radical Islamists, the Fulani are motivated by land and the desire to preserve their nomadic way of life. Both are barbaric. 160 homes have been destroyed and at least 140 Christians killed since the beginning of 2019.

What can we do? 1. Pray, 2. interrogate stories before passing them along – but pass them along! and 3. support ministries on the ground like ICR, Open Doors, Barnabas Aid, and VOM.
