Mornings w Carmen 4-23-2019 Identity crisis and Identity in Christ; Christianity and liberalism today
Questions of identity, meaning and purpose are questions everyone is seeking to answer in one way or another. Those who seek answers in Christ find a real and substantial identity that does not shift with circumstances nor have need to change with changing times.
Carmen talks with Dr. Peter Kapsner about identity and the confusion in the culture about what it means to male and female or even human. They discuss the advent of groups of people who identify individually as another species and then together as that species group. The community of mermaids and mermen is one such example.
Carmen offers commentary in the second half of today’s episode on the Easter Sunday opinion piece in which atheist Nicolas Krsitof interviews Presbyterian seminary president, Serene Jones. Jones admits she does not believe in the resurrection nor the virgin birth and describes the crucifixion as not possibly something God ordained because that would be cosmic child abuse. The seeds of this thinking were planted long ago and Carmen discusses the history of liberalism, recommending you check out J. Gresham Machen’s Christianity and Liberalism to understand the present in light of the past.
