#PraytheNews – weather, war and worry…
Where in the Word are you today and how are you walking your faith out into the world in ways that honor Jesus?
And this: does God belong in Congress or the operating room or the war theater? What about the ball field? On the pitcher’s mound? That’s a question asked of the coach of the Lady Vols softball team following their win over North Carolina.
WVLT was airing the game when, one strike away from victory, Tennessee’s pitcher, Matty Moss called for time. The catcher popped up and trotted to the mound. The crowd fell silent. The pitcher and catcher briefly clasped hands, smiled and resumed play. What just happened there? Inquiring minds wanted to know.
In an interview following the game, Tennessee Co-Head Coach Karen Weekly said, “It was a prayer. That’s what Matty does. When Matty needs to calm down, she calls the catcher out. She says, ‘grab my hand.’ I don’t know who does the praying. I don’t know if it’s out loud or silent because I’ve never been a part of it; but it’s a prayer,” explained Weekly. The coach concluded, “I love it. If that’s what gets Matty calmed down, she can pray every pitch … Yeah, amen!” said Weekly.
Where are you walking your faith out into the world today? Matty walked it out on the pitcher’s mound for all the world to see.
