If you’ve been wondering which committee of the House of Representatives would be responsible for initiating impeachment proceedings against the President of the United States simply identify the committee (House Judiciary) that has requested documents from 81 people and organizations with relationship to Donald Trump. Their investigation alleges corruption, abuse of power and obstruction of justice by the President. All this ahead of the release of the Mueller report. Carmen talks through all this with Tommy Binion from the Heritage Foundation. They also discuss the debt limit (which we passed again on Friday night) and why fiscal conservatives are not ringing the alarm bell. Binion’s walk off is downright evangelical and not to be missed!
The news out of Beauregard, Alabama in Lee County is deeply grievous. The stories are heartbreaking and the images pose a challenge for the brain to process. The devastation wrought by the F4 tornado on Sunday leaves some feeling hopeless to know how to respond. Carmen talks with Sam Porter, national director of the Southern Baptist Crisis Response effort which is part of the North American Mission Board of the SBC. Sam shares about the grief counseling being offered to families as they await meetings with and then hear the news from the County Coroner. Same also shared how distribution of necessities is already flowing as local churches serve as distribution points for the Salvation Army, Red Cross, Samaritan’s Purse, the 700 Club and Convoy of Hope. Sam emphasized the need for prayer and encouraged those who are interested in putting their life in the offering plate by serving to visit SendRelief.org and click on the Crisis Response button. You are invited to pray specifically for SBCR state directors, Mark Wakefield (AL) and Stuart Lang (GA).
