A Good Business Does More Good Than You Think | What the Bible Says About Easter
Wednesday of Holy Week – Wisdom Wednesday – Witness Wednesday and…
[From Carmen] My mom’s 83rd birthday.
In our family, we celebrate the parents as well as the child and so today, in addition to celebrating my mom, we celebrate her parents, Holland and Rhobenia Benefiel.
I am who I am today, in part, because of the love God gave to the people in the generations of my family that precede me.
I heard an interesting story last week about a person who was researching his family’s lineage and the entire discussion revolved around the days, hours and even weeks spent pouring over birth, baptism, marriage and death records in a series of churches in the Northeastern United States, Ukraine and Poland. As I listened, it occurred to me what a treasure our family Bible is as a record of those names and dates and places going back in time and how many families today – including my own – rely on the government to keep records that were once the province of the church. So today, when I talk to my mom, that’s what I’m going to ask her for as a gift. She needs nothing but my time and she loves to talk and her family’s history resides largely right now in her memory. I’m going to have her tell me and I’m going to write it down.
My mom is a gift and on her birthday, I’m planning to unwrap another layer of her wit and wisdom as a woman who is indeed fearfully and wonderfully made.
