When Extremists Seek to Infiltrate Christian Ministries | Experiencing God’s Redemption Amid Deep Loss

Executive Orders and the Children of God

The 46th President of the United States sat down at the resolute desk in the oval office of the White House of the United States and signed 15 Executive Orders on his first day in office:

In the days to come we will unpack several of these, focusing in particular on the ones with which we find ourselves in necessary opposition from a Biblical, Christian or Gospel worldview.

For now, suffice it to say there is literally an entirely new administration in place in the Executive branch of the U.S. government. Those with whom we had relationships are gone and we will now need to forge and foster relationships with people with whom we disagree about some core principles of government and moral living.

Our personal and corporate diplomacy as Christians will, of necessity, change if we want to have a voice in the room and a place at the proverbial table. Elections have consequences and the table is now set by members of a party that is expressly antagonistic to those who operate out of and advocate for pro-life, pro-family, religious liberty, limited government policies and practices.

We can either throw stones and write screeds or we can speak our peace with the honesty and integrity of people who know this world is not our home.

Our Fortress — Our God

As I was praying this morning the Lord brought the words of an old hymn to mind: A Mighty Fortress is our God was written in 1529 by Martin Luther who walked out his faith with conviction and took his stand in the midst of great trials in both the church and the world.

A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;

our helper he, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing.

For still our ancient foe does seek to work us woe;

his craft and power are great, and armed with cruel hate,

on earth is not his equal.

Did we in our own strength confide,our striving would be losing,

were not the right Man on our side,the Man of God’s own choosing.

You ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is he;

Lord Sabaoth his name, from age to age the same;

and he must win the battle.

And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us,

we will not fear, for God has willed his truth to triumph through us.

The prince of darkness grim,we tremble not for him;

his rage we can endure, for lo! his doom is sure;

one little word shall fell him.

That Word above all earthly powers no thanks to them abideth;

the Spirit and the gifts are ours through him who with us sideth.

Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also;

the body they may kill: God’s truth abideth still;

his kingdom is forever!

Today’s Guests

Peter Kapsner – 50 Shades of Truth

In this segment, Peter and Carmen discuss how fringe groups such as the Proud Boys have  infiltrated their way into Christian ministries and how such radical groups can have many similarities to fundamentalist Islamic movements.

Vaneetha Risner – Author of “Walking Through Fire”

“Walking Through Fire: A Memoir of Loss and Redemption” is through the eyes of the author who experienced it, Vaneetha Risner. She tells of her loss of physical abilities as she contracted polio as an infant, the redemption caused by becoming a Christian, the loss of innocence as she expected the Christian life to make everything go easier when it did not, and the redemption of God’s drawing her closer to Christ through her suffering. In this book, we see the tragedies of life but the grace of our Lord, Jesus. For more information on the book and Vaneetha check out the following links: Book, Vaneetha’s Webpage.
