Today we look at parenthood, specifically fatherhood, with Dr. Meg Meeker and NFL player and father Benjamin Watson.
Meg spent 30 years practicing pediatric and adolescent medicine and counseling teens and parents, and she served as co-host of Dr. James Dobson’s nationally syndicated daily radio program Family Talk. She joins us today to discuss her new book Hero: Being the Strong Father Your Children Need. Fathers play an incredibly important role in the lives of kids. Meg shares how fatherhood is a holy calling, and how as a Church community we can help reach out to those who do not have a present father in their lives. Also, there’s parenting advice everywhere, and it seems to change with every passing fad. How do we know which advice is worth taking?
Benjamin Watson is a successful NFL player for the Baltimore Ravens. He is also a Christian father seeking to raise children whose identity is rooted in Christ. He wrote The New Dad’s Playbook: Gearing Up for the Biggest Game of Your Life to help new fathers prepare for their first children and what they need to know from the very first moments.
He also recently shared on his Facebook page about something his daughter experienced because of her race. He helps us identify how our actions and words influence our children in so many ways and our responsibility to raise children who will be Ambassadors for Christ to their peers from a young age.
