Reconnect One: At His Word
The apostle Paul complimented the people of Thessalonica that they took God at His Word. First Thessalonians 2:13 reads, “We thank God constantly for this: that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God”
So let me ask, do you take God at His Word?
If we really believe that God is God and by the inspiration of His Spirit the words of the Old and New Testaments were given to us that we might know God, then what? If God’s Word reveals a truth that contradicts my current thinking, or my desires, or some trend in the culture, what do I with that? Do I take God at His Word and cooperate with the Holy Spirit to bring my thoughts, words, deeds, relationships and politics into alignment with His or do I refuse to follow where God’s revealed truth leads?
To take God at His Word is to allow His Word to form, reform and even transform the way I think about everything.
