Reconnect One: I’d like to lay my hands on him!August 8, 2017

Social media erupted in response to a photograph of several evangelical leaders laying hands and praying for the President in the Oval Office. One particularly angry tweet said, “I’d like to lay my hands on him!” which was a barely veiled threat.
Here in America, we are free to criticize politicians but as Christians we are called to pray for them. The Bible makes clear that God’s people are to actively and ardently pray for those in authority – whether we like them or not.
First Timothy 2 reads, “I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions.”
So, the next time you hear someone suggest that they’d like to lay a hand on the President, invite them right then and and there to pray with you for him!
