Reconnect One: Womb TherapyJune 4, 2019
People pay to do some strange things. Have you heard about womb therapy? People pay to be tied up in the fetal position, wrapped in a fabric womb, in which they then go through periods of struggle and rest. They are encouraged to cry like babies and eventually break free in an experience of rebirth.
How is it that womb therapy is in vogue but describing yourself as a born again Christian is not? In the third chapter of the gospel of John, Jesus has a conversation with a Pharisee named Nicodemus. Jesus tells him that unless you’re born again you cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
Confused, Nicodemus wonders if Jesus is describing some kind of womb therapy – can I enter my mother’s womb again? No, Jesus assures. He’s talking about spiritual rebirth – from death to newness of life – becoming a new creation in Christ where the old passes away and everything becomes new.
