The Consequences of a Business Leader’s Political Activism | Disagreeing Without Dividing the Church
A Message from Carmen
The sun set – and the sun has risen again. The sun has set on the 45th presidency of this nation we call America and the sun rises today on the 46th. Because Grover Cleveland served twice, Joseph Biden becomes today the 45th person in all of human history to take the oath to faithfully discharge the office not under the divine right of kings but by the consent of the governed. Let us see today the extraordinary thing that is taking place. Yes, there will be many days upon which we will view with scrutiny the policies the Biden administration intends to pursue. I have already highlighted several that grieve the Spirit and against which we must press ourselves as Christians of conscience, but today is not that today. Today we recognize the extraordinary nature of our republic.
And who will we be today as prayers are prayed, a hand placed on the Bible by a regular Joe who then commits to serve in the position at the head of the executive branch of the United States of America? Let us be a people who will be found praying for him, that God would grant him all wisdom and courage and fortitude, all discernment and resourcefulness and diplomacy, indeed all grace sufficient to the calling to which he has been called. Let us pray that God will send and Joe Biden will follow the counsel of the truly wise and be protected from all evil and those who would seek to bring harm to our nation or her people. Let us pray that God would use this time to renew our strength and prepare us for the future He has planned and let us be people of light in what is always, no matter who is president, a perverse generation.
My hope is built on nothing and no one else. On Christ the solid rock I stand, I can do no other, all other ground is sinking sand.
Bill English – Bible & Business
There are some VERY real world consequences in the business with political activism. Carmen and Bill discuss the situations surrounding this thought as well as the pushes for and use of speech censorship within businesses.
Tim Muehlhoff and Rick Langer – Authors of “Winsome Conviction”
“Winsome Conviction: Disagreeing Without Dividing the Church” is a book written to help Christians navigate the challenges of disagreeing with their fellow brother or sister in Christ without viewing it as a “violation of an unspoken agreement” which leads to hurt and offense between the parties. They desire unity in the Church even when opinions may be different. For more info on this book go to https://www.ivpress.com/winsome-conviction.
