Understanding Racism in America with Billy Russell | Syria, Iraq, Hong Kong & Brexit

Carmen talks with Rev. Billy Russell of Greater Friendship Baptist Church of Minneapolis reflects on the act of forgiveness by Brandt Jean, his own experience of racism in southern Mississippi, and the ongoing forgiveness needed today by African-Americans on the nation’s long journey toward reconciliation.

David Aikman and Carmen discuss the news overnight that the United States is pulling its troops out of Northeastern Syria, leaving the Kurds unprotected from the Turks who plan to resettle the region with millions of refugees currently in Turkey.  Thousands of captured ISIS fighters will not be left to the Turks, raising humanitarian concerns.

They also discuss the chaos in Iraq and the rising tension in Hong Kong as China grows impatient with protests.
