Watch your mouth | The return of the Drive In | Fighting for love and the enemy of porn in marriage

Carmen’s opening commentary on the need to “Watch your mouth”

Twice in the last 3 days the former VP and Dem hopeful for the 2020 Presidential race, has invoked God in response to journalists’ questions:

Last night to Stephen Colbert on CBS’ “The Late Show,” Biden said regarding his V.P. pick: “I honest to God don’t know who. I promise you right now.”
Three days ago Biden’s headline quote regarded a question about the President taking hydrochloroquin. He asked, “What in God’s name is he doing?”

On another occasion, when beginning to quote the Declaration of Independence, Biden stumbled over the text when he arrived at a direct reference in the text to God. On March 2nd, while reciting a portion of our nation’s founding document, said, ““We hold these truths to be self-evident. All men and women created by the you know, you know the thing.”

The thing?

For a guy who says “God” a lot in other contexts, it seemed as if he either forgot God or couldn’t bring himself to say God when the reference was to the Truth of God as Creator of all.

Let us be clear here, invoking the name of God matters to God.
If you have to clarify that you’re being “honest to God” about some things and add assurances of your own promise that you’re telling the truth it leads people to wonder if the rest of the time you’re lying to them.

And when you ask about something done in God’s name you’re asserting a LOT about both the person of whom you’re speaking and their actions.
Is President Trump doing what he’s doing in God’s name?
What does that mean?
You say it’s just a turn of phrase well if so, it’s a turn of phrase about which God has said He takes direct offense.

The name of God is to be hallowed, not hollowed out by casual reference and flippant throw-away answers. And yes, I understand that’s just the way Joe Biden speaks, it’s his pattern of speech, but that’s point.
As Christians we recognize the power of words and the invocation of God and God’s name matters to God and, therefore, to us.

God actually commands it and Jesus instructed us to make it a matter of first order prayer.
So today, let us take not God’s name in vain but hallow it, lest it be hollowed out.

Carmen’s conversations with Adam Holz on the return of the Drive in and other entertainment headlines fills the first half and then in the second half, Carmen welcomes author Rose Makinney to talk about the serious issue of porn in Christian households. She fought for her marriage and now equips others to do the same. The book is Fight for the Love and website is FightforLoveministries.org.
